Symptoms of Heart Attack


The signs and symptoms of a heart attack aren’t the same for everyone. Some people don’t have symptom at all. One-third of the patients who had heart attack had no chest pain. The patient can be older, female or diabetic. In some cases the attack begins with the sudden crushing pain in the chest.

The most common symptom for heart attack is chest pain or discomfort.  The discomfort in the center or the left side of the chest which lasts for few minutes and then goes away and come back is the most severe one. The discomfort can be like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain. The feeling can be mild or severe.

It reflects the pain caused by indigestion or heartburn. The symptom of angina is similar to that of the heart attack. It affects people who have coronary heart disease.

The other symptoms of heart attack include

  • Upper body discomfort in one or both arms.
  • Discomfort in the back, neck, jaw or upper part of the stomach.
  • Shortness of breath which occur with chest discomfort.
  • Nausea, vomiting, light-headedness, sudden dizziness or breaking out in a cold sweat.
  • Sleep problems, fatigue or lack of energy.

In case of heart attack you need someone to do the first aid and rush to hospital for treatment. Don’t drive by yourself to the hospital seek the help of a known person to take you to the hospital. The first aid will help you before taken to the emergency room.
