Health Benefit of Radish



Radish is the root of a plant classified in the mustard family. It is an excellent source of vitamin C and a powerful antioxidant. The leaf of Radish Plant is a good source of calcium. Radish can protect us from Jaundice, piles, urinary disorders, weight loss, cancer Leucoderma, skin disorders, kidney disorders and other insect bites.

Radish can be eaten row or cooked. Radish is commonly used for garnishing, it is also used as an ingredient in green salads. Radishes are available all year long. The season is from June through September. In India Radish is used as a vegetable in cooking Sambhar. There are five main varieties of radishes like Red Glode, daikons, Black, White lcicles, California Mammoth White.

To retain the freshness and crunchiness it is advised to soak Radish in cold water. Radishes come in a number of varieties of shapes, sizes and colors. Radish is used for cooking in India and Japan. It is cultivated more in the hilly areas. It is the most selling vegetable in India.

Radishes contain cancer-protective properties. The Botanical name of Radish is Raphanus sativus. 

They can be added to vegetable juice to spice up the flavor. They help clear your sinus cavities and soothe your sore throat.
