How to do First Aid



Essential first-aid training can be very useful in case of an emergency. It is also essential to teach first-aid to kids. They can help themselves, their peers and even be helpful in case of serious emergencies. Here are instructions to teach first-aid to kids.

Essential Materials:-
A good first aid kit: It should include the following items: First aid instructions, bandages, gauze squares, adhesive tape, thermometer, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, activated charcoal, a pair of scissors, tweezers, soap, cotton wool, calamine lotion, disposable gloves, paper cups, Vaseline and matches or a lighter.

Instructions:-

  • Here are some very basic instructions…
  • Head injuries-Call 911 if there is bleeding, loss of consciousness, dizziness and slurring of speech. Stabilize the patient and do not try to move him/her.
  • Fractured bones-Do not move the patient, keep quiet and warm, never try to straighten the broken bone as it can lead to further injury.
  • Burns-Apply cold water to the area. Seek emergency medical services if skin is destroyed.
  • Bleeding-Apply firm, steady pressure with covered fingers to control bleeding.
  • These are only basic instructions. You should refer a manual on first-aid for detailed instructions. It is advisable to join your kids in first-aid classes.
