Tips for sound sleep during pregnancy


During pregnancy sleep challenges are common due to body’s reaction to hormonal changes. Sleep of pregnant women is mostly interrupted by frequent bathroom visit and baby’s movement. The sleeping position during the first, second and third trimester is listed below.

First trimester:-
You must start to sleep on your left. This position improves blood circulation and facilitates smooth flow of nutrients to your fetus.

Second trimester:-
 Sleeping with elevating head and neck is more comfortable. It prevents stomach acid to come up.

Third trimester :-
  Sleeping on the left side is recommended in the third trimester as the position facilitates blood flow to your fetus and uterus

If you are not getting a good night sleep, you should consider the following tips.

  • If you are worried about anything, then talk to your partner, family members or doctors about it.
  • Take help of counselor to get rid of anxiety and stress during pregnancy.
  • Sleep in soft bed with a comfortable room temperature for sound sleep.
  • Avoid alcohol to prevent insomnia.
  • Take frequent meals for avoiding feeling of nausea.
  • Drink plenty of fluids in the day time.
  • It is important to avoid fluids in the evening hours and night for minimizing frequency of urination in night.
  • Avoid spicy and fried food to avoid heart burns.
  • Reading, listening to soft music and taking bath before sleep is good for sound sleep.
  • Keep your mind relaxed throughout the period of pregnancy.
  • Yoga and mild exercises enforces sound sleep.
  • Consult with doctor regularly will avoid problems during pregnancy.

Natural remedies for a healthy pregnancy


        Women love to become mother. Health and regular diet is very important during pregnancy. Consulting with a gynecologist is a must. Doctor’s prescribe taking less medicine. Home made remedies are advisable to treat simple problems of pregnancy.

      Women face many problems during pregnancy. Problems like backaches, headaches, depression and morning sickness are the most common ones. Vomiting during pregnancy occurs in 75% of women. This can be cured by considering home made remedies.

Few of the home made remedies are listed below:
  • For head ache take warm relaxing bath. You can try cold packs on the forehead to relieve headache. Don’t take aspirin without doctor advice.
  • For Backache Massaging is the best alternative to drug. Avoid using muscle relax gel unless the condition is severe.
  • For Sleeplessness take a brisk walk each day to avoid tension. You can take a warm bath and listen to music before going to bed. It is advisable to drink a cup of warm milk before going to bed.
  • It is important to eat a balanced diet. Food rich in vitamins, protein, minerals and carbohydrates is a must.
  • Drink sufficient milk to avoid constipation.
  • Quit smoking to avoid high blood pressure. 
  • In case of over weight you should consult with doctor.
  • Mild exercise, walking or swimming can be healthier for you.
  • Try yoga to reduce stress.
  • Do meditation to bring your emotions and stress on control.
  • Breathing in open air early in the morning is advisable.
  • Keep the kitchen well ventilated while cooking.

  • Before you get pregnant go for dental check up. Brush twice a day.   
  • It is always good to announce the pregnancy when you are ready.
  • Take rest when ever you get time.
